Well, as usual, I fell behind on the assignment for myself of reporting back on the 2 concealers I purchased earlier.
The upshot of this is that I had more time to play with the application & wear of both, the downshot (is that even a word?) is that it makes me look like a schlub that doesn't keep her word.
I do honor my word, it just always seems to not fail something gets in the way when I'm planning to write. =/
Anywhoo, my earnest apologies to any who may have been waiting for this (Nepenthe =) ) & on with the show....
I decided to take a pic of my worst eye (left) with no concealer in order to show the proper contrast with both concealers applied.
As a control for these photos, no primer, any type of foundation or setting powder was applied-only concealer (1 layer) in a stippling motion with a Laura Mercier egg sponge was used.

Concealer #1 Hard Candy Glamoflauge in Tan #314:

Ok, I'm roughly NC42-ish by MAC standards, this concealer on my very brown based circles can obviously not stand on it's own while blending into my skin. However, that being said, even with the color being off (& in it's KVD cousin likeness that I griped about a while back), it does give lots of pigmentation with the tiniest bit. I found that it's very creamy, easy to blend as well as layer. Outside of the color match, you already know what my other felt caveat is... yes, the creasing. Albeit, as aforementioned, it was not set or primed prior to.
If you are a tinted moisturizer or liquid/cream foundation wearer, you would definitely need to set this concealer & priming isn't a bad idea either (not to mention using a blotting sheet once set).
This stayed true to color regardless the type of foundation worn, but I found it wears & looks best with a powder foundation & a couple of the mineral foundations tried.
If you can find a color match in this concealer or prefer a brightened (not lightened) look around the orbital area as well as the planes of the cheeks, you may want to check this out.
Concealer #2 Black Opal Fade & Conceal in Honey

I had such high hopes for this one if nothing more, for the color match. It's almost just the right amount of peach to balance out the darkness & yellow to blend into my complexion. I love that unlike the hard candy, this one does not need to be set & dries down quite similar to MAC's select coverup. It's not as pigmented as HC, but layering isn't a big deal.
Since it doesn't require setting, it looks best if nothing powder-wise is applied over it. Due to the dry down quality, an eye cream that is on the rich side would make this more pliable & give a bit more blending time. It also would not give a crepey appearance to those who may deal with parched skin around the eyes. This one looked best with my liquids.
My biggest fault (that may be due to my chemistry) is that it oxidized to a much darker shade regardless of what type of foundation or method of application used. The original color lasted approximately 20 minutes before I noticed the change.
Oh well, if nothing else, this one would be great for blemishes since it stays put til removed.
I wish I could pair the best aspects of both of these products to concoct what I need, but as usual, I guess the search continues.
Onto the next!
